The Member of Parliament(MP) for Tamale Central and Member of the Constitutional and Legal Affairs Committee of Parliament, Inusah Fuseini says the President has not been fair over the appointment of Justice Anin-Yeboah as Chief Justice.<\/p>\n
He says the President though exercised his discretion should have been balanced.<\/p>\n
Speaking on Okay FM\u2019s\u00a0‘Ade Akye Abia’ programme, he explained that the President should have appointed Justice Jones Dotse who is more senior than Justice Anin-Yeboah who will retire in 4 years.<\/p>\n
This nomination means that the chances of Dotse are closed because he is older than Justice Anin-Yeboah.<\/p>\n
“The President got it all wrong this time and I\u2019m really disappointed in what the President has done,” he said.<\/p>\n
“It\u2019s regionally unbalanced and tribally inaccurate because, in the history of this country, it is only once that a Voltarian has been appointed as Chief Justice,” he added.<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo has nominated Justice Anin-Yeboah as Chief Justice subject to Parliamentary approval.<\/p>\n
If approved, Justice Anin-Yeboah, who is the fourth longest-serving Justice of the Supreme Court, will succeed Justice Sophia Abena Boafoa Akuffo, who retires on December 20, 2019.<\/p>\n
Justice Anin-Yeboah, a well-seasoned law enforcer, was appointed to the Supreme Court by former President John Agyekum Kuffuor in June 2008.<\/p>\n
He has also served as a Justice of the High Court, and a Justice of the Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n
In addition, he is a part-time lecturer in Civil Procedure and the Ghana Legal System at the Ghana School of Law.<\/p>\n
Prior to that, he had served as a Justice of the High Court from 2002 to 2003 and a Justice of the Court of Appeal from 2003 to 2008.<\/p>\n
Apart from being a Supreme Court Justice, Justice Anin Yeboah is also a part-time lecturer in Civil Procedure and the Ghana Legal System at the Ghana School of Law.<\/p>\n
Justice Anin Yeboah\u2019s name is also associated with football. In May 2017, he was appointed the Chairman of the Disciplinary Committee of the Federation of International Football Associations (FIFA).<\/p>\n
