Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Some agents of the two main political parties, New Patriotic Party and National Democratic Congress, claim they are still recording the serial numbers of Biometric Verification Registration (BVR) kits being used for the ongoing limited voter registration exercise.<\/b><\/p>\n

This is in spite of the Electoral Commission\u2019s refusal to grant that request.<\/p>\n

The EC refused the request on the basis that it will compromise of the ongoing process.<\/p>\n

Witnessing an increased number of first-time voters, some agents of the NPP and NDC, were able to obtain the serial numbers of the Biometric Verification kits.<\/p>\n

Musah Ahmed, NDC Youth Organizer for Ayawaso north said, \u201cas for us since day one, we captured the BVR system\u2019s serial numbers, and we are monitoring. If they change it again, we will also capture it and send it to our superiors.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked if the serial numbers were captured with the permission of the electoral officials, Ahmed Musah said, \u2018we sought their permission, and they allowed us to take it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The NPP\u2019s Augustin Ofori Gyebi said, \u201cwhen we need it, we can get it\u201d. He added \u201cwe have it, they showed us everything\u201d.<\/p>\n

Agents who obtained the serial numbers did so without the approval of the District Director of Elections for Ayawaso North, Apostle Tizor Watson. He said, \u201cI\u2019ve not heard of anybody asking of serial number from our outfit.\u201d<\/p>\n

His position was also corroborated by Lydia Anom, the Municipal Election Director who also said her office had not given permission for the recording of serial numbers of BVR kits.<\/p>\n

It would be recalled that speaking at a press conference on May 9, the National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah urged the party\u2019s agent to record the serial numbers despite the EC\u2019s stance against it.<\/p>\n

The limited registration exercise entered its fourth day with the Commission shuffling between offline and online registrations as a result of intermittent network challenges.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile as participation increases, top political figures including government officials have been visiting the various centres.<\/p>\n
