Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Presidential candidate of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawamia is set to embark on a one-day tour of the Savannah Region on Wednesday 15th May, 2024.<\/b><\/p>\n

His visit is specifically part of his planned nationwide regional tour.<\/p>\n

Dr. Mahamadu Bawumia before entering Damongo, will make a whistle-stop at Yapei toll booth, whistle -stop at Fulfulso lorry market and private visit to the Busunuwura.<\/p>\n

While in Damongo, he will hold a breakfast meeting with the clergy and also meet with Savannah Regional House of Chiefs.<\/p>\n

He will monitor the ongoing limited registration exercise in Damongo, interact with market women, and embark on a house-to-house campaign<\/p>\n

Party flags are already flying in the Damongo town with a charged atmosphere awaiting his coming.<\/p>\n

He is expected to tour the Northern, Upper East and Upper West regions after his tour of the Savannah region.<\/p>\n

Youth Agitation<\/b><\/p>\n

Ahead of the NPP presidential candidate\u2019s tour of the Savannah Region, a youth group in gonjaland known as Dankari be lembu, has kicked against plans by Dr Bawumia to use the Jakpa Palace he renovated as a campaign tool to further advance his political aspirations<\/p>\n

At a press conference addressed by the Public Relations Officer of the youth group, Alhassan Koduah, the plan to handover a building that is already in the possession of the King is only an attempt to use the name of the king and the palace for politics.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe palace was not built by any political party. What is supposed to be handed over is not a new building put up by the Vice President or anybody or party. So, why should an existing building which has only been renovated be scheduled to be handed over?\u201d they asked.<\/p>\n

NDC Concerns<\/b><\/p>\n

For the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Savannah Region, all Gonjalanders and all conscientious Ghanaians to condemn the NPP\u2019s ongoing disregard and dishonor towards the esteemed chieftaincy institution in Ghana<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s evident that the King and people of the Gonja state prioritise a steadfast commitment to development, consistently demonstrated by His Excellency John Dramani Mahama, rather than the superficial gestures and persistent falsehoods about development propagated by Dr. Bawumia and his superior,\u201d they stated.<\/p>\n
