Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Egyapa Care Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by the Member of Parliament for Sekondi and Minister for Tourism and Creative Arts, Lawyer Andrew Egyapa Mercer has presented cash grants to 420 traders in Sekondi.<\/b><\/p>\n

Each of the 420 traders received an amount of GHC1,000 to support their businesses. The gesture also forms part of the 51st birthday celebration of the Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n

The traders who have been complaining about inadequate capital to support their businesses were privileged to receive the grant from their Member of Parliament.<\/p>\n

Andrew Egyapa Mercer indicated that he set up the Egyapa Care Foundation to assist traders and other groups in his constituency.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Egyapa Care Foundation started in 2020. We have realized that every year, various organizations including hairdressers, trade associations, seamstresses, masons, carpenters, welders, and many others come to me for various forms of support, and it keeps increasing.<\/p>\n

So, we put together the Egyapa Care as a vehicle to solicit support just so that we can assist those who come to us in this regard. We have through the Egyapa Care distributed sewing machines, hair dryers, carpentry tools, mason tools, welding tools and many others,\u201d he told Nhyiraba Paa Kwesi Simpson, the host of Connect FM\u2019s Omanbapa Morning Show.<\/p>\n

According to him, the grant was given out to the traders without reference to any party affiliations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did it without any political party affiliation, any trader who needed the support was given. Many still need financial support for their businesses, we shall go back to those who supported us and find out if they can make some more money available and we shall give it to them so that everyone will be satisfied. I will urge all of them to make good use of the support given to them, it may be small but can do many profitable if it is used well,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Queen Mother of the Sekondi Market, Nana Krah who organised the beneficiaries thanked the MP for being sensitive to the plight of women in the Constituency.<\/p>\n
