Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>Black Stars coach Otto Addo has stated that Baba Rahman isn\u2019t prepared to return to the national team.<\/b><\/p>\n

Rahman asked not to be included in the squad for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations early this year, citing a desire to focus on club football.<\/p>\n

However, it is widely acknowledged that the primary reason for his absence was the unpleasant experience of being booed during his last game for Ghana, a 2-1 victory over the Central African Republic in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier in July 2023.<\/p>\n

Following an impressive season in which he scored six goals and provided three assists, helping PAOK clinch the Greek championship, Rahman was expected to be named in the squad for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.<\/p>\n

However, his name was conspicuously absent from the 26-man squad, prompting Addo to clarify the decision.<\/p>\n

\u201cI have observed his performances. At this juncture, he is not prepared to make a comeback. What transpired in Kumasi deeply affected him and his family,\u201d Addo remarked at Wednesday\u2019s press conference.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would have greatly benefited from his presence. I engaged in extensive discussions with him and even considered flying to meet him, but he remained resolute in his decision.\u201d<\/p>\n

Rahman, who has accumulated 50 appearances for the Black Stars since his debut in 2014, remains among the few seasoned players available for selection.<\/p>\n
