Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>FC Samartex have achieved a remarkable feat by winning the 2023\/24 Ghana Premier League title in only their second season in the top flight.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Timber Giants have consistently outperformed established teams, clinching the trophy with two matches to spare.<\/p>\n

Despite challenges from Nations FC, Aduana FC, and Medeama SC, the Samreboi-based club maintained their lead to finish on top. Their triumph was sealed on a wet Sunday, June 2, 2024, during matchday 32 at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex with a crucial 1-0 victory over Bibiani Gold Stars.<\/p>\n

Emmanuel Mamah scored the decisive goal just before the break, putting his team ahead in what would later be the match\u2019s deciding moment.<\/p>\n

Following Aduana FC\u2019s loss on Saturday against Bechem United, Medeama SC were the only team that stood a chance of challenging FC Samartex, trailing by six points heading into matchday 32.<\/p>\n

However, the defending champions were stunned in the dying moments of their game against Heart of Lions at Akoon Park, handing FC Samartex the advantage.<\/p>\n

The match was delayed due to heavy downpours rendering the pitch inconvenient, but after consistent interventions and inspections, the game resumed with the entire second half being played.<\/p>\n

The victory evoked joyful scenes at the Nsenkyire Stadium, with die-hard fans jubilating with sheer emotion and excitement. Samartex have done the unthinkable in just their second season, having only tasted top-flight football last season.<\/p>\n

Samartex\u2019s triumph means no Ghana Premier League champion has defended their title since Asante Kotoko in 2014. They have become the fourth club from the Western Region to win the Ghana Premier League after Sekondi XI Wise, Hasaacas, and Medeama SC, who won it last season.<\/p>\n

After 32 matches, FC Samartex have won 18 games, drawn four times, and lost 10, showcasing their impressive form throughout the season.<\/p>\n
