Africa-Press<\/a> – Ghana<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>Accra, Dec. 01- Special voting for persons with special Election Day assignments totalling 109, 577, has ended across the country.<\/p>\n

The exercise took place at 311 Electoral Commission (EC) designated voting centres in all 275 constituencies.<\/p>\n

All polling stations the Ghana News Agency visited as at 1700hours had closed polls.<\/p>\n

At the Domeabra M.A. Methodist Basic School polling station in the Domeabra-Obom Constituency, a total of 14 people voted, four failed to turn up and one person did not find his name on the special voters\u2019 list.<\/p>\n

Mr George Mensah, the Presiding Officer at the Centre, told the GNA that those whose names were on the special voters\u2019 list but failed to vote would not be able to vote on December 7.<\/p>\n

He said all ballot boxes were sealed and sent to the Police Station and \u201cwill only come out on December 7\u201d after the General Polls.<\/p>\n

Mr Mensah described the exercise as \u201chighly\u201d successful and hopeful that December 7 would also be smooth.<\/p>\n

At the A-FL and FO-Z Polling Centres in the Korle Klottey Constituency, a total of 797 people voted out of a total of 941 persons on the special voters\u2019 list.<\/p>\n

At the Kaneshie Police Station in the Okaikoi South Constituency, all ballot boxes were sealed immediately polls closed.<\/p>\n

Out of 1,077 voters on the special voters\u2019 list, 863 voted, 420 at Centre \u201cA\u201d and 423 at Centre \u201cB\u201d.<\/p>\n

Security personnel, political party agents and election observers were seen at all centres.<\/p>\n

The exercise was generally successful with strict adherence to COVID-19 safety protocols.<\/p>\n

A total of 12 presidential candidates are competing for the votes of 17,029,972 Ghanaians to be elected President for the next four years.<\/p>\n

They are: Mr Alfred Kwame Walker, an independent Candidate, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of the New Patriotic Party, Mr Christian Kwabena Andrews, of the Ghana Union Party, Madam Brigitte Akosua Dzogbenuku of the Progressive People\u2019s Party and Former President John Dramani Mahama, National Democratic Congress.<\/p>\n

Others are; Madam Akua Donkor of the Ghana Freedom Party, Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings of the National Democratic Party, Dr Hassan Ayariga of All People\u2019s Congress, Mr Ivor Kobina Greenstreet of the Conventions People\u2019s Party.<\/p>\n

The rest are; Mr Henry Herbert Lartey of Great Consolidated Popular Party, Mr Percival Kofi Akpaloo, Liberal Party of Ghana and Mr David Asibi Ayindenaba Apasera of the People\u2019s National Convention.<\/p>\n
