ON BAIL! Christian Agyei<\/p>\n
CHRISTIAN AGYEI, the 24-year-old
\nhouseboy accused of having a hand in the murder of
\nJosephine Asante-Tanoh, the Marketing and Public Affairs Manager of Ghana Ports
\nand Harbours Authority (GPHA), has secured bail at the Criminal Division of the
\nAccra High Court.<\/p>\n
He was granted bail in
\nthe sum of GH\u20b5200,000 with two
\nsureties, one to be justified, after being denied on two occasions by the same court.<\/p>\n
However, the
\nbail is yet to be executed due to strict administrative procedures associated
\nwith such situations.<\/p>\n
Baba Jamal,
\ncounsel of the accused person, told the TDC Magistrate Court in Tema that
\nalthough he personally handed over a copy of the bail letter from the Registrar
\nof the High Court to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of the Ghana
\nPolice Service in Accra, the police are yet to act on it.<\/p>\n
The houseboy of
\nthe deceased was arrested after he was found burying a cash sum of GH\u00a2430 and a
\nwrist watch at the crime scene on the day of incident.<\/p>\n
Christian Agyei
\nand Amos Aprako (the official driver of the deceased) are facing provisional charge
\nof murder at the TDC Magistrate Court.<\/p>\n
Apraku, a staff
\nof GPHA in March 2019, secured a bail of GH\u20b5200,000 with two sureties, one to be justified, but Agyei was denied
\nby the court.<\/p>\n
Meanwhile,
\ninformation gathered by the\u00a0DAILY GUIDE\u00a0indicates that the
\naccused person is using a property at Alhaji, a suburb of Accra, as part of the
\nprocess to secure bail but the police are yet to visit the property for him to
\nbe released.<\/p>\n
The Magistrate
\nCourt presided over by Mrs. Akosua A. Adjepong, therefore, ordered prosecution
\nto ensure that the necessary processes are followed to grant the suspect bail.<\/p>\n
The court
\nfurther asked the police not to adopt \u2018delay tactics\u2019 to extend the suspect\u2019s
\nstay in custody.<\/p>\n
Case Docket<\/p>\n
The prosecutor, Inspector Cecelia Mensah,
\nwho held a briefing for the substantive prosecutor (Inspector Beatrice Arye)
\ntold a Tema Magistrate Court that a duplicate docket on the
\nalleged on the murder of Mrs. Josephine Asante-Tanoh has been forwarded to the
\nAttorney General\u2019s (A-G) Department for advice.<\/p>\n
She said that the
\npolice are waiting for the said advice from the A-G to determine the way
\nforward for the case.<\/p>\n
The public
\naffairs manager of the Tema Port was brutally killed at her Emefs Estate home
\nnear Afienya in the Ningo-Prampram District of the Greater Accra Region on
\nJanuary 13, 2019.<\/p>\n
She had reportedly
\nreturned from a senior staff-end-of year party organised by the GPHA, only to
