Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>The Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) has been awarded the outstanding tourism event in Africa for its \u201cYear of Return\u201d and \u201cBeyond the Return\u201d initiatives at the GOGE Africa Festival\u2019s 25th-anniversary celebration in Nigeria.<\/b><\/p>\n

The award recognized the exceptional impact of Ghana\u2019s \u201cYear of Return\u201d and \u201cBeyond the Return\u201d programmes in celebrating African heritage, uniting the African diaspora, and positioning Ghana as a premier cultural tourism destination.<\/p>\n

These initiatives have fostered pan-African unity and strengthened cultural ties globally.<\/p>\n

The GOGE Africa Festival on the theme: \u201cSymphony of Cultures,\u201d attracted over 20,000 attendees from 32 countries, celebrating African heritage through exhibitions, parades, music, dance, and culinary competitions.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s event themed, \u201cOur shared heritage,\u201d showcased the shared history and cultural unity among African nations.<\/p>\n

Mr Kofi Atta Kakra Kusi, Deputy Director of Domestic Marketing, emphasized the strategic importance of Nigeria as Africa\u2019s largest market and highlighted aggressive marketing efforts for Ghana\u2019s tourism offerings.<\/p>\n

He also expressed gratitude to the GTA leadership and various stakeholders for their foresight in advancing Ghana\u2019s tourism agenda.<\/p>\n

The Founders of GOGE Africa, Mr Isaac Moses and Mrs. Nneka Moses, commended Ghana\u2019s efforts in promoting Africa as a premier tourism destination with the \u201cBeyond the Return\u201d initiative.<\/p>\n

The GTA spearheaded the 2019 \u201cYear of Return\u201d initiative, attracting over 1.18 million visitors from the African diaspora and beyond, and currently leads the \u201cBeyond the Return\u201d initiative.<\/p>\n

This ambitious programme focuses on seven strategic pillars to unlock Ghana\u2019s full tourism potential, foster lasting bonds, and establish groundbreaking economic and cultural partnerships.<\/p>\n

The CEO of GTA was represented by Mr. Moses Ndewin Ndebugri, Director of the Upper West Region, and Mr. Kusi, Deputy Director of Domestic Marketing.<\/p>\n
