Samuel Udoetuk Wills and John Oji<\/strong><\/p>\n

Family
\nmembers of a fourth girl, whom they are claiming was also kidnapped, have said
\nthe remains discovered at Nkroful New Site in Takoradi by the police could be
\nthat of their missing girl.<\/p>\n

Already,
\none more suspect has been arrested in Nigeria in connection with the case
\ninvolving the three missing Takoradi girls.<\/p>\n

The
\narrest of Chika John Nnodim on 5th August 2019 brings the number of arrested
\nsuspects in the case to three.<\/p>\n

The
\nlatest revelation that a fourth girl has gone missing and is yet to be found
\nhas sparked debate that she might have also been kidnapped.<\/p>\n

According
\nto the family members, Rose Abakah, 16, had gone missing at Diabene, a suburb
\nof Takoradi in the Western Region for over a year now.<\/p>\n

A
\ncertain Evangelist Veronica Cobbinah, who claimed to be the grandmother of Rose
\nAbakah, narrated that on 18th July 2018, Rose went to Diabene Methodist Church
\nbut never returned home.<\/p>\n

She
\nclaimed that when she got back from church her grandchild was not at home and
\nwas only told by her friends that Rose received a call and left the Sunday
\nschool service.<\/p>\n

She
\nclaimed that the police in the area assisted the family in the payment of
\nransom to the kidnappers but the girl never came back.<\/p>\n

Evangelist
\nCobbinah added that various announcements to trace the girl were unsuccessful
\nand reported the case to the Kojokrom Police and the Sekondi Police but to no
\navail.<\/p>\n

\u201cI
\nhad to leave for the United States of America only to hear on the Internet of
\nthe kidnapping of the three girls,\u201d she said, adding that \u201cthe police only
\nallowed us to pay GH\u00a2300 to some guys who called later that the child was with
\nthem and that we should go to the main road to receive her but we couldn\u2019t get
\nmy granddaughter.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWe
\nreported to the police that we couldn\u2019t find my granddaughter. They took us to
\nSekondi but the back and forth was just too much although they said they were
\nin search of her. Later, we received a call from a group of people who were
\ndemanding GH\u00a235,000 before they could release our relative. So, we reported
\nthis again to the police because we suspected it was kidnapping,\u201d she narrated.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe police officers took all our statements
\nthen the next day the guys were just calling us and the police at Kojokrom were
\nbargaining with them. Finally, they came to a conclusion that whatever we have
\nwe can give it to them. And the police told us that if that is the case we
\nshould give them (kidnappers) something; maybe my granddaughter will come back,\u201d
\nshe added.<\/p>\n

An
\nelder sister of the missing girl, Matilda, also corroborated the story and said
\nthe family made some payments to the suspected kidnappers who talked to her to
\nget her sister released but to no avail.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe
\none who spoke to me said they had used my sister\u2019s name to register for MTN
\nMobile money so we should make the payment through that number which we did.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt
\nthe time, I was working with MTN so I gave the number to my boss and we
\nrealised that they used my sister\u2019s National Health Insurance card for the
\nregistration. So that was how we were convinced that she was in their custody.
\nWe have so far paid GH\u00a2300 to them,\u201d she recounted.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe
\nwant the police to be quick about their DNA tests so that we can be comfortable
\nwith our lives. Right now, we are downhearted,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

A
\nfourth set of human parts was on Wednesday discovered at Nkroful New Site in
\nTakoradi as part of investigations into the missing Takoradi girls\u2019 case.<\/p>\n

The
\nremains were discovered at an uncompleted building where the main suspect in the
\nkidnapping of the three girls, Samuel Udoetuk Wills, was re-arrested when he
\nescaped from police custody in December 2018.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile,
\nthe police had said it would take them four weeks to complete DNA tests on the
\nparts to ascertain whether or not those are the parts of the missing girls in
\nquestion.<\/p>\n

After
\ninitially refusing police request for DNA tests to be conducted on their
\nrelations, the families of the three kidnapped Takoradi girls have now agreed
\nto co-operate with the police<\/p>\n

Psychologists Visit Family<\/p>\n

Meanwhile,
\na team of psychologists has visited the homes of families of the three
\nkidnapped Takoradi girls to prepare them for the impending DNA process.<\/p>\n

Confirming
\nthe visit, Alexander Kuranchie, father of one of the kidnapped girls, said that
\nthe visit was the second since their children got missing about a year ago.<\/p>\n

\u201cThey
\ncame to encourage us and assured us that government would do all it could to
\nunravel the identity of the remains. But for me, reading my Bible and praying
\nhas been the greatest source of strength since my daughter left home almost a
\nyear ago,\u201d he disclosed.<\/p>\n

We Will Do DNA<\/p>\n

Mr.
\nKuranchie also indicated he had changed his mind on the issue of DNA and
\nforensic examinations, saying \u201calthough I really wanted to decline the DNA test
\nbut much advice and consultation have made me change my position.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added that after listening to other discerning individuals, we realized it was critical at this point to establish the identity of the human remains discovered and decide the way forward.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
