Africa-Press – Ghana. <\/strong><\/span>President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has asked the Ghana Air Force to sustain its collaboration with state institutions to safeguard the country\u2019s energy infrastructure.<\/b><\/p>\n

He said it was important to ward off any potential threats to these vital state facilities as the State sought to protect its territorial integrity and economic interests.<\/p>\n

Addressing the 2024 Wings Parade of the Ghana Air Force, in Accra, the President noted that the Ghana Armed Force\u2019s partnership with entities such as the Volta River Authority (VRA) and Ghana Gas Company had proved instrumental in safeguarding critical resources.<\/p>\n

In a bid to strengthen the operational capability, combat efficiency, and logistics of the Armed Forces, the Akufo-Addo-led government has taken significant steps towards restructuring and retooling.<\/p>\n

The administration has procured a range of advanced military equipment, including 163 Armoured Personnel Carriers (APCs), combat vehicles, trucks, and general vehicles, to enhance the army\u2019s effectiveness.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the army has received new surveillance and communication equipment, such as optical systems and critical night vision technology, which will aid in improved operational performance.<\/p>\n

President Akufo-Addo also outlined plans to further bolster the Air Force, with the procurement of six L-39 Ground Fighter Aircraft, two additional Ground Power Units, as well as various aircraft, including Casa C2A5 Maritime Patrol Aircraft, Mi-71SH Military Airlift Helicopters, VIP Transport Helicopters (H-225), and four H-125 Reconnaissance Light Attack helicopters.<\/p>\n

These assets are aimed at supporting the Special Forces\u2019 operations and enhancing overall military capability.<\/p>\n

\u201cAll these investments are to ensure that the Armed Forces are well equipped and motivated to deliver on their primary mandate of safeguarding the peace, integrity and security of the nation,\u201d he stated.<\/p>\n

The government anticipates that the retooling of military personnel will enhance intelligence gathering, provide better protection, and improve mobility and firepower for troops engaged in security operations.<\/p>\n

The 2024 Wings Parade was reviewed by the President and Commander-in-Chief of the GAF, who presented Air Crew Badges and awards to twelve pilots at the the Ghana Air Force Base, Burma Camp, Accra.<\/p>\n
