Africa-Press – Guinee Equatoriale. <\/strong><\/span>Le Botswana a re\u0301ve\u0301le\u0301 lundi e\u0302tre confronte\u0301 a\u0300 une forte hausse du braconnage de ses rhinoce\u0301ros, coi\u0308ncidant avec la mise en place en Afrique du Sud voisine de mesures strictes contre les braconniers.<\/p>\n

Au total, 138 rhinoce\u0301ros ont e\u0301te\u0301 massacre\u0301s par des braconniers pour leur corne, entre 2018 et 2022, avec un pic en 2021, a de\u0301clare\u0301 devant le Parlement la ministre du Tourisme, Philda Kereng.<\/p>\n

A titre de comparaison, entre 2012 et 2017, le Botswana n\u2019avait recense\u0301 que deux rhinoce\u0301ros tue\u0301s par des braconniers.<\/p>\n

La ministre a attribue\u0301 cette hausse a\u0300 \u00ab une demande accrue de corne de rhinoce\u0301ros sur le marche\u0301 international \u00bb, essentiellement en Asie, et aussi \u00ab a\u0300 un de\u0301placement des organisations criminelles depuis d\u2019autres E\u0301tats d\u2019Afrique australe \u00bb.<\/p>\n

Tre\u0300s prise\u0301es en Asie, les cornes de rhinoce\u0301ros sont utilise\u0301es en me\u0301decine traditionnelle pour leurs effets the\u0301rapeutiques suppose\u0301s.<\/p>\n

Selon la Convention sur le commerce international des espe\u0300ces menace\u0301es d\u2019extinction (CITES), il resterait au total 285 rhinoce\u0301ros blancs et 23 rhinoce\u0301ros noirs au Botswana.<\/p>\n
