Africa-Press – Kenya. Transport Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has apologised for the power outage that hit Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) on Friday night.
In a statement on Friday night, Murkomen said there was no excuse for the incident.
“I am really sorry for what has happened at JKIA with the blackout. There is no excuse worth reporting and there is no reason why our airport is in darkness,” he said.
The CS also said that he be making an announcement in regards to the power outage on Saturday.
“I will be announcing the decision we will make tomorrow 9am at JKIA after a meeting with the leadership of the airport,” Murkomen said.
The airport is among facilities that were hit by a national blackout that affected the whole country.
Counties like Nairobi, Kiambu, Siaya, and Kisumu also confirmed power outages on Friday night.
Passengers at the immigration and baggage handling sections at JKIA were among those who were affected.
However, Power supply has been restored at JKIA, some parts of Nairobi and Mt Kenya region on Saturday morning
