Africa-Press – Kenya. Former nominated Senator Millicent Omanga has blasted leaders criticising President William Ruto over his Christmas gifts.
The politician termed as a hypocritical leader who have been critical of the president’s donations to his neighbours in his Sugoi rural home.
“If you’re criticising the president for sharing Christmas gifts with Kenyans who visited him at his home, you’re a demented hypocrite,” Omanga said posted on her X account.
The politician who was nominated as the Chief Administrative Secretary before the President’s move was overturned by the court, asked such ‘mean’ people to learn to be generous.
“If you’re mean, don’t force the president and those who have a heart of giving to be mean, too. Alaar!!” she said.
President Ruto on Friday hosted hundreds of people at his vast Sugoi home on Saturday and donated various Christmas gifts to them.
The president, who has been donating gifts to his neighbours every festive season, encouraged Kenyans to have big hearts and help the less fortunate.
However, some leaders have criticised President Ruto over his donations to hundreds of people at his Sugoi home.
Speaking after a consultative meeting with Jubilee grassroots leaders on Saturday, Jubilee Secretary General Jeremiah Kioni said the Head of State wants to turn Kenyans into beggars through his donations.
“It is an embarrassing thing to see. He has called people to his home to give them food, this has not happened in the last 20 years. No one went to Uhuru or Kibaki’s home. This is a very retrogressive policy,” Kioni stated.
But State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed shared screenshots of President Ruto gifting Sugoi residents during Christmas over the years.
Taking to his X page, Hussein said it has been a longstanding tradition for the President to gift his hometown residents during Christmas.
This is after Ruto visited his hometown in Sugoi to share Christmas gifts, including wheat flour, cooking oil, and rice.
Hussein shared four screenshots from 2017, 2018, 2021 and 2022 showing the President gifting Sugoi early Christmas. “It has been a longstanding tradition, for years, pre- and now in William Ruto‘s presidency, and it’s not about to stop.
The neighbours are happy, why are these very few people sad? I’d urge them to share with their neighbours as well, it may just relieve them of their negativity,” he said.
He urged Kenyans to share the love with their neighbours and the country.
