AfricaPress-Kenya: Some Baringo MCAs have distanced themselves from Governor Stanley Kiptis’ endorsement of Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential bid.

Led by Betty Birchogo, a nominated Kanu MCA, the ward reps accused the governor of being dishonest as he “sings Jubilee praises during the day and praises Kanu at night.” “Our governor is not a sincere person.

He spends time in Kabarak at night and sings Jubilee songs during the day,” Birchogo said. Birchogo was speaking in Kabarnet town where Kanu MCAs and affiliate members criticised Jubilee leaders in Baringo led by Governor Kiptis for endorsing the deputy president.

Two days ago, Kiptis called on residents of Baringo to rally behind the deputy president in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta. Kabarnet Ward MCA Ernest Kibet criticised the governor of endorsing Ruto yet he has failed in his role as the governor.

Kibet, who threw his weight behind Baringo Senator Gideon Moi told the governor to work for the people as they are the ones who elected him and forget about politics. “You cannot start endorsing Deputy President William Ruto when you have failed in your role as governor in Baringo,” he said

But Bartabwa MCA Reuben Chepsongol told Kibet that Baringo is still a Jubilee zone.
