Africa-Press – Kenya. Isiolo County Assembly Speaker Mohammed Roba has dismissed reports that he has stepped down from office.
The statement had allegedly reported that Roba had resigned on June 17, citing personal reasons.
Responding to the claim on Thursday, June 18, Roba took to his social media to deny the allegations and insisted he is still in office.
“Desperation of the embattled clerk! I am fully in control,” he posted in response.
In the statement, Roba said the claims are fake, have no legal basis, and are only intended to confuse the public.
“I write to categorically deny the dismissal as the false report circulating on various platforms claiming that I, Mohamed Roba, have resigned from the position of Speaker of the Isiolo County Assembly,” he said.
Roba also clarified that he has not submitted any resignation, either in writing or verbally, as required by the County Government Act.
“I remain fully committed to my duties as Speaker and continue to preside over the business of the Assembly without interruption,” his statement added.
He further warned that any resignation letter circulating is part of a campaign to weaken and interfere with the Assembly.
Roba, however, urged the media and the public to rely on verified information to avoid being misled.
“I urge the public, the media, and stakeholders to rely only on verified official communications from the County Assembly and not on sensational or unverified sources,” the statement stated.
There has been growing political tension in the county between Members of the County Assembly and the Isiolo County Governor, Abdi Guyo
