Matiang’i Promises to Fix the Country and Get Work Done

Africa-Press – Kenya. Former Interior CS Fred Matiang’i has reassured Kenyans that if they want work done, then he is the man for the job. Speaking on Monday, Matiang’i insisted that Kenyans are tired of the theatrics they get treated to.

He went on to say that he is ready to get to work and fix the broken systems in the country. “Kenyans have come to a point where they are tired of this drama,” he said.

“I think the time is here for people to get some work done, and if people are looking to get some work done, honestly, I am the guy to get things fixed. I am the guy of doing the work. Let’s get to doing now and fix things.”

The Uhuru Kenyatta era Interior Cabinet Secretary has been tipped as one of the favourites to face off with President William Ruto in the 2027 presidential elections.

Since his return, he has closely worked with other opposition outfits led by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, DAP-K’s Eugene Wamalwa and Martha Karua, among others.

The Opposition has not yet settled on a candidate as their flagbearer. Matiang’i recently warned that managing a country is a serious responsibility that demands competence, policy certainty, and a focus on service delivery, not personality cults or tribal politics.

Speaking at a town hall meeting with Kenyans living in Texas, Matiang’i said the country was experiencing a period of policy confusion and service disruption, particularly in the education sector, which he blamed on a lack of proper planning and leadership focus.

“Running a country is not child’s play,” Matiang’i declared.

“This is serious business. The learning curve in leadership is long, and the decisions made affect millions of people.”
