Africa-Press – Kenya. Today marked a defining moment for the National Olympic Committee of Kenya as the official handover of leadership took place between outgoing President Dr. Paul Tergat and newly elected President Shadrack Maluki.

The transition, held at the NOC-K’s offices , was symbolic of continuity, accountability, and shared commitment to the Olympic Movement. In his handover remarks, Dr. Paul Tergat paid tribute to his outgoing Board for their “exemplary dedication, passion and teamwork,” crediting their unity and selflessness for NOC-K’s transformation.

“Each of them was willing to surrender the ‘ME’ for ‘WE’ , a selflessness trait,” he noted, calling it the secret to the institution’s renewal.

President Shadrack Maluki reaffirmed the new Board’s commitment to strengthening governance structures, fostering collaboration across the sports ecosystem, and placing athletes at the heart of every decision. “We are not reinventing the wheel, only oiling and realigning the links for greater momentum,” he stated.

As part of the official transition, key institutional assets were handed over, among them the NOC-K Seal, Constitution, Olympic Charter, IOC and NOC-K flags, office keys, bank statements and cheque books, representing legal, symbolic and operational continuity.
