Kenya Hosts Global Peace Conference on Youth and Unity

Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenya will host a four-day global peace conference in Nairobi aimed at inspiring young people and diverse groups to embrace unity, hope and a renewed sense of humanity in shaping the continent’s future.

Speaking ahead of the event, Prof Madhu Krishan said the forum seeks to encourage youth to view themselves as global citizens beyond political boundaries while promoting peace and sustainable development.

“We want to foster the sense of unity amongst God’s people and we believe there is no discrimination, and we want to tell young people in Kenya that there is hope for them,” he said.

He emphasised that Kenya plays a vital role in regional and global peace efforts.

“Kenya represents the whole African continent. Kenya plays a very vital role in the sustainable development of the whole African continent and in taking the gospel of peace to all the five continents,” he noted.

The conference will also showcase contributions from students trained in international institutions, including American universities and United Nations innovation programs, many of whom are already engaged in global peace initiatives.

Reacting to the Nepal crisis, Madhu stressed that national boundaries are man-made divisions that should not hinder unity and coexistence.

“So, we want to unite once again. God has never discriminated in creating human beings. The boundaries are man-made. Politically, divided boundaries are there. So we would like to unite once again all of them,” he said.

Prof Cletus Bassey echoed the sentiments, highlighting the role of governments in supporting citizens’ aspirations, especially the youth.

He urged young people to participate, saying the gathering will provide an opportunity to be inspired by messages of peace, faith, and hope.

“There shouldn’t be injustice here. We are bringing the gospel of peace and also to tell the young people in Kenya that there is work and hope for them,” he said.

The Peace Conference is expected to attract wide participation from across Kenya and beyond, serving as a reminder of the shared responsibility to uphold peace, justice, and unity in an increasingly divided world.
