ODM won't Disintegrate Soon, Wanga and Junet Declare

Africa-Press – Kenya. The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has said it is gaining popularity as the country approaches the next general elections in 2027 despite doubts by naysayers.

The Raila Odinga-led ODM party said despite claims that its association with the government under the Broad-Based arrangement will reduce its popularity, the party is destined for major achievements.

“ODM is a national party, and if there is any person who has dreams that ODM is dying anytime soon, he had better wake up; you are dreaming. ODM will be bigger than it is now,” ODM’s Director of Elections and National Assembly Minority Whip Junet Mohamed said.

According to Junet, ODM has 1.3 million officials not membership; the officials all the way from the polling station level all the way to the party leader Raila.

“This is the party with the highest membership in Kenya. This is the best-managed party in Kenya. Our party has never had an audit query,” he said.

The Suna East MP expressed confidence that ODM will either win the next elections or be in a coalition that will form the next government.

“We know where ODM is coming from and where it is going. This is the party to form government in 2027. Who knew ODM will be part of the current government? I want to assure party supporters that ODM will either be in government or be part of a coalition that forms government. This party will never be in opposition again,” Junet said.

Speaking at Chungwa House in Nairobi, where they issued nomination certificates for the party’s candidates in the November 27 by-elections, ODM party chairperson Gladys Wanga said their party is among the few with a national outlook, unlike their competitors.

“ODM is one of the biggest parties North of Limpopo and South of the Sahara. It’s a national party under Baba Raila. If Raila says left, we will go left, if he says right, we shall all go right,” Wanga said.

The two leaders who spoke at Orange House on Tuesday hit back at former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who on Sunday claimed Raila has two camps within his party.

Speaking in Kajiado after a church event, Gachagua claimed ODM has two camps; the good cop and bad cop like style, where the party renegades are allegedly used to blackmail President William Ruto.

“Raila has two camps in ODM. One led by Edwin Sifuna is to make noise to blackmail Ruto, while another one led by praise singers is to appease the President,” Gachagua claimed.

However, on Tuesday, Wanga and Junet asked Gachagua to build his own house before scoffing at the Orange party leadership.

“Recently, we saw a candidate who joined his DCP, and two days later announced he had resigned citing frustrations. Is that a party that can challenge us? Wanga posed.

Junet added, “First, build your own party to a mass movement and know how a political party is run.”
