Africa-Press – Kenya. President William Ruto on Thursday joined hundreds of mourners for the burial of Mzee Weston Kirocho Kanja. Mzee Mzee Kanja is the father of Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja.

He was laid to rest in Thome, Laikipia county. Mzee Kanja passed away on Tuesday, October 14, although news of his death only became public on Monday, October 20. President Ruto described Mzee Kanja as a kind and selflessly dedicated to serving the community.

“Mzee Weston Kirocho Kanja ‘KK’ was a steadfast, respected and hardworking leader. He was kind and selflessly dedicated to serving the community, and his footprints are evident all over,” Ruto said.

“May it be comforting to Inspector-General of Police Douglas Kanja and the family, that we are praying for them at this painful time,” he added.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Amin conveyed condolences on behalf of the DCI, describing the passing of Mzee Kanja as a difficult time for the family.

He assured IG Kanja of the directorate’s support as he goes through the period of mourning. Mzee KK passed away at the age of 85, leaving behind a rich legacy of kindness, humility, and commitment to uplifting those around him.
