Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs Musalia Mudavadi has congratulated DCI boss Mohamed Amin on his election to the INTERPOL Executive Committee as Africa’s Delegate.
In a statement on Thursday, Mudavadi said Amin’s victory was not only a personal accomplishment but also a clear sign of Kenya’s growing influence in global security while calling the milestone a win for Kenya and the continent.
“Mohamed Amin secured the seat after facing stiff competition from several African states, and this is a sign of the trust placed in Kenya’s security institutions,” Mudavadi said.
He described the achievement as a powerful affirmation of Kenya’s rising leadership in regional and global security.
Mudavadi added that the election demonstrated the confidence member states have in Kenya’s professionalism, integrity, and commitment to collective safety.
Amin will now join the executive team that oversees the implementation of decisions made by the General Assembly and supervises the General Secretariat.
This places the country at the heart of decision-making in international policing.
Mudavadi said Amin’s entry into the top organ of Interpol elevates Kenya’s role in shaping the future of global crime fighting and security cooperation.
“The appointment signals that Kenya’s security leadership is earning international respect. The country takes immense pride in seeing a Kenyan assume such a critical global responsibility,” the Prime CS said.
According to Mudavadi, the election reinforces the truth that when Kenyans serve with excellence, the world takes notice.
He also acknowledged the role of national security leadership in supporting the DCI Boss’s rise.
Mudavadi commended Inspector General Douglas Kanja, saying the success was the result of concerted effort by multiple institutions and officers committed to strengthening the country’s standing in global security.
“I commend Inspector General Douglas Kanja, alongside all institutions and officers whose dedication made this moment possible,” he said.
Mudavadi further said Kenya would continue to build its role in promoting global peace, cooperation, and justice.
He emphasised that Amin’s new role should open more opportunities for the country and enhance Africa’s voice in global security policy.
“May this new responsibility open even greater doors for Kenya and for Africa,” he said, expressing optimism that the appointment would deepen the continent’s engagement in advancing international safety.
The election marks one of the most significant international appointments for Kenya’s security sector this year, strengthening the country’s visibility on the global stage.
It also highlights the importance of Kenya’s contribution to joint efforts to combat transnational crime.
Mudavadi noted that the country stands ready to support Amin as he steps into the new role and works with international partners to strengthen collective security.
The appointment is expected to bolster Kenya’s influence within multilateral security networks and enhance its role in shaping responses to global threats such as cybercrime, terrorism, trafficking networks, and financial crime.
“The government will continue backing institutions charged with safeguarding national and international security,” he said.
Mudavadi further added that Kenya’s progress in this space is built on dedication, discipline, and a commitment to the rule of law values he believes Amin will carry into his new role.
According to Mudavadi, it is a moment for the country to take pride, celebrate its progress, and look forward to deeper global engagement anchored in professionalism and integrity.
