Africa-Press – Kenya. The Kenya Meteorological Department has announced that rainfall is expected to persist in various parts of Kenya on Tuesday, December 30, 2025.
According to the Department, the latest weather forecast is valid from 9:00 a.m. Monday to 9:00 a.m. Tuesday.
The Department warned that residents in areas experiencing continuous rainfall should remain vigilant, particularly in flood-prone and low-lying regions.
Kenya Met urged the public to stay informed through official weather platforms and take necessary precautions to minimise the impact of potential flooding and related hazards.
Several parts of the country have been experiencing rainfall in recent days, with the Kenya Meteorological Department warning residents to be vigilant.
On Monday, the Department warned of a continoues rainfall was expected from 9.00 a.m. on Sunday, December 28, to 9.00 a.m. on Monday, December 29.
The Department stated that areas likely to receive rainfall included the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, including Nairobi, the Lake Victoria Basin, parts of the Rift Valley, the south-eastern lowlands, and the Coastal region.
The department also advised residents in areas experiencing persistent or heavy rainfall to remain vigilant, particularly those living in flood-prone and low-lying areas, due to the increased risk of flooding.
Kenya Met urged the public to stay informed through its official communication platforms for timely updates and advisories as the rainy conditions persist.
On Sunday, the National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) issued a safety alert urging motorists and other road users to exercise caution as heavy rainfall and fog continue to affect parts of the country.
In its statement, NTSA said the prevailing weather conditions have significantly increased risks on major roads.
“Ongoing heavy rainfall and foggy conditions are affecting some parts of the country, significantly heightening road risks due to reduced visibility and slippery surfaces,” the authority said.
“We strongly urge drivers, motorcyclists, pedestrians, and cyclists to exercise extreme caution.”
NTSA has advised road users to slow down, maintain safe distances, avoid overtaking in poor visibility, and watch out for flooded sections, especially on low-lying roads.
The warning follows a Meteorological Department advisory indicating moderate to heavy rainfall of more than 20–30mm in several regions.
These include the Southeastern lowlands, the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and parts of the Coast.
The weather is expected to intensify in several counties through December 29 before easing on December 30, according to the Met Department.
The rains will spread to the Highlands West and East of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the southern Coastal region.
The areas of concern include Migori, Homa Bay, Kisii, Narok, Kajiado, Makueni, Machakos, Nairobi, Kericho, Bomet, southern Kitui, Taita-Taveta and Kwale.
