Africa-Press – Kenya. Kakamega deputy governor Ayub Savula has said that he is done with the DAP-K party. Savula who is DAP-K deputy party leader, said that he will join government. UDA is the ruling party.

“I am going to the government because I don’t see anyone who can wrestle President William Ruto from power,” he said.

“Have you seen me in DAP-K event? I have moved on from DAP-K,” he said. Savula abandoned his DAP-K candidate for the just concluded Malava by-election Seth Panyako, to campaign for UDA’s David Ndakwa, who won the seat.

Savula said that being in government will position the Luhya community for President Ruto’s succession in 2032. Savula made the remarks at a presser after attending a meeting by UDA leaders and officials on the impending party grassroots elections at the Golf hotel on Tuesday.

The meeting was also attended by Bungoma governor and Ford Kenya deputy leader Kenneth Lusaka, UDA national vice chairman Kelvin Kunani, MPs Innocent Mugabe (Likuyani), Oku Kaunya (Teso North), Mary Emase (Teso South), Ernest Ogesi (Vihiga), Charles Gimose (Hamisi), Kakai Bisau (Kiminini) and Vihiga Woman MP Beatrice Adagala.

He said that the said the meeting was meant to organise Western for Ruto’s re-election in 2027. “We are doing this to position the Luhya community to be able to succeed Ruto. Let’s use our numerical strength to take power. We cannot achieve this while in the opposition,” he said.

Lusaka said that Luhyas will fight for Ruto’s re-election because he’s fighting for equality, adding that, “We cannot compare Ruto to other presidents.”

Lusaka said that the meeting had been organised under the auspices of the broad-based government arrangements. The meeting also agreed to counter attacks on the government by the opposition leaders in the region.

“Mugabe said that the broad-based proponents in the region will not entertain politics of divisions and disrespect by the opposition,” he said.
