Africa-Press – Kenya. The Morendat Institute of Oil and Gas (MIOG), in partnership with the Kenya Tourism Fund, on Friday graduated 139 students from its first hospitality cohort at the MTCC Naivasha – Morendat School of Hospitality Campus.
The ceremony marked the inaugural graduation since the launch of the Morendat School of Hospitality, covering students from the 2025 and 2026 academic years.
Graduands from Nakuru and Narok counties received certificates in Food Production & Baking Technology, Housekeeping & Laundry, Front Office, Food & Beverage Service, Barista & Bar Service, and Events Management.
The programme is part of the Government’s Recognition of Prior Learning initiative, which aims to formalise existing skills and raise professional standards within Kenya’s hospitality sector.
Speaking at the event, Joe Sang, Managing Director of Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC), said, “At KPC, we believe education is the most powerful equaliser. The graduation of this first hospitality cohort reflects our commitment to industry-driven training that equips young people with practical, market-ready skills. Through partnerships such as this, we are strengthening the hospitality value chain while creating pathways for employment, entrepreneurship, and sustainable livelihoods.”

MIOG Director Dr Nancy Kosgei added, “The launch and successful graduation of our first hospitality cohort demonstrates MIOG’s evolution into a multi-disciplinary centre of excellence. We are committed to delivering high-quality, competency-based training that responds directly to industry needs and empowers our learners to compete effectively in the job market.”
The graduation highlights MIOG’s expansion into hospitality education and positions the Morendat School of Hospitality as a growing centre of excellence supporting Kenya’s tourism and hospitality sector.
