The Parliament of Kenya, through its Centre for Parliamentary Studies and Training (CPST), has announced four capacity-building courses running from March to May 2026, targeting legislative staff nationwide.
The training courses are scheduled to take place at the County House Building, Parliament Square, Parliament Road in Nairobi, with each course running for five days.
Each course carries a fee of Ksh40,000 per participant, which covers tuition, training materials, conference facilities, and a CPST-accredited certificate upon completion.
The first course, Protocol, Etiquette and Events Management in the Legislature, runs from 9th to 13th March 2026 and targets protocol officers, public relations officers, communication officers, and personal assistants who handle Very Important Persons (VIPs) and diplomats.
According to the CPST, participants in this course will gain the required skills to effectively manage events by blending appropriate protocols to enhance their legislature’s image.
The second course, Speaker’s Rules and Enforcement, runs from 13th to 17th April 2026 and is specifically designed for Serjeant-at-Arms and security officers working within Kenya’s legislatures at both national and county levels.
CPST describes the course as one that will help participants command the stage with confidence, equipping them to learn the rules and master enforcement as a function of parliamentary practices and procedure.
Running concurrently with the Speaker’s Rules course, from 6th to 10th April 2026, is the Hansard Production in the Advent of Artificial Training (AI) training targeting Hansard audio officers and reporters across Kenya’s legislative institutions.
The Hansard course acknowledges that the production process has been transformed by Artificial Intelligence, with CPST stating it will equip participants with alternative practices and methodologies in parliamentary reporting.
The final course in the series, Legislative Media Relations Management, is set for 4th to 8th May 2026 and targets Media Relations Officers working in county and national assemblies across Kenya.
County assemblies already associated with these trainings include Kitui, Kwale, Bungoma, and Murang’a, as well as the County Assemblies Forum.
