Africa-Press – Kenya. The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has declared that it is fully prepared for its upcoming Special Delegates Convention (SDC), with final arrangements now in place ahead of the March 27, 2026 gathering in Nairobi.
In a press statement issued on March 19, Deputy Secretary General Catherine Omanyo said the party has entered the last phase of preparations, assuring members and the public that all systems are aligned for the major political event.
She said that the convention will be held at Jamhuri Grounds along Ngong Road, a venue known for hosting large-scale national and political gatherings.
“We have one week left to the event and wish to inform our members and the general public that preparations are in top gear,” Omanyo said.
Omanyo revealed that delegates from across the country have already been duly informed about the meeting and its agenda.
She said that the party had earlier issued a 21-day notice for the convention on March 6, publishing it in local dailies and sharing it across official party communication channels, including its website and social media platforms.
According to ODM, the notice met all legal and constitutional requirements governing party meetings, reinforcing the legitimacy of the upcoming convention.
Omanyo clarified that the notice issued remains the only valid communication regarding the SDC, dismissing any suggestions of irregularity.
She further noted that, in line with party structures, such notices are not signed by the party leader, a detail she said is clearly provided for in ODM’s internal procedures.
Since the issuance of the notice, the party has been engaged in a series of organisational and logistical activities to ensure a smooth and successful convention.
While the specific agenda items were not outlined in the statement, the SDC is expected to serve as a critical platform for internal deliberations, policy direction, and strategic planning within the party.
Omanyo reiterated ODM’s commitment to its founding principles and ideological framework, describing them as central to the party’s continued relevance.
“As a party, we are committed to the values that it is founded on. Our principles are supreme, and the ideology of the party continues to guide us,” she said.
She added that ODM remains steadfast in upholding democratic ideals and societal norms, positioning the upcoming convention as a reaffirmation of its core mission and vision.
In closing, Omanyo extended an invitation to delegates, welcoming them to Nairobi for the event.
“To all our delegates, Karibu Nairobi. ODM tuko tayari,” she said, echoing the party’s message of readiness.
The Special Delegates Convention is expected to play a pivotal role in shaping ODM’s immediate political direction, with observers keenly watching its outcomes and implications for the broader political landscape.
