Africa-Press – Kenya. World football governing body Fifa on Friday threatened to ban Kenya from participating in its activities if the government fails to rescind its decision to disband Football Kenya Federation.
In a statement on Thursday, Chief Member Associations officer, Kenny Jean-Marie, termed CS Amina Mohamed’s decision a brazen contravention of Fifa statutes.
“We kindly ask you to inform the Cabinet Secretary that in the event her decision to appoint an FKF Caretaker Committee and the correlated secretariat was to be upheld, we would have no other choice than to submit the present matter to the Bureau of Fifa Council for consideration and decision,” Marie said.
Fifa, however, expressed a desire to engage both FKF and the Ministry of Sports in search of an amicable solution. Amina disbanded the local football governing body and appointed a caretaker committee that would run the affairs of the federation for six months.
The decision came hot on the heels of an audit report from Sports Registrar, Rose Wasike. The committee will be chaired by retired judge Aaron Ringera.
Other members of the committee include General (Rtd) Moses Oyugi, Fatma Adan, Philip Musyimi Mue, Anthony L. Isayi, Elisha Chepchieng Kiplagat, Hassan Mahmoud Haji, Fredrick Tureisa Lekesike and Mwangi Muthee, Neddy Atieno, J.J Masiga, Bobby Ogola, Richard Omwela, Titus Kasuve, Ali Amour.
The CS also appointed a secretariat that will be headed by Linda Oguttu, who will be assisted by Michael Mucheni (secretary), Lorine Nerea Shitubi (Joint Secretary), Caesar Handa, Habo Mwachiro, Edward Rombo, Hiba Hussein and Gabriel Warigi. Other members of the secretariat will be Dr Walter Ongeti, Rashid Khamisi Ali Shedu, Hon. Rachael Kamweru and Robin Toskin.
