Africa-Press – Kenya. The quartet of Hamisi Hassan, John Ngugi, Dickson Kingi, and Joseph Muhingo carded 138 points to win the overall title of the second leg of the Johnnie Walker Golf Series on Saturday at the Thika Greens Golf Resort.

The team comprising Collins Okun, William Musili, B Tororei, and Jasan Ngatia managed a combined score of 131 points to finish second—one ahead of the team of Brian Masika, Bernard K Macharia, Samson Mureithi, and Dominic Chege who had 130 points.

Samson Mureithi, playing off handicap 20, carded 41 points to claim the men’s category A title. He beat handicap 14, Munge Karoki, who also posted 41 points to claim the second position.

Claiming top position in the men’s category ‘B’ was handicap 33, Dickson Kingi, who posted 47 points.

The Ladies Category ‘A’ title went to Betty Mutua (H22) with 33 points followed by Esther Mworia (H29) with 33 points. In Category B, Margret Warugongo (H38) carded 45 points to emerge the winner.

Handicap 2 Christopher Andrea and Patrick Theche (H11) clinched the honours in the nines with 22 points apiece. Malcolm Wilson and Margret Warugongo took the longest drive crowns in the men’s and women’s categories.

The Thika Greens Golf Resort event attracted 165 players, who played in the tournament’s Stableford, four-ball format.

The top three winning teams will join other previous winners in the next round of the series – Eagles Round, as they aim to make the cut to play in the Grand Finale in Scotland.
