Africa-Press – Kenya. Nasewa were on Thursday crowned the new Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Matayos sub-branch zone ‘B’ champions.

Nasewa wrapped up the season level on 37 points with Muungano FC, but were declared winners on a healthier goal difference. Labour FC took third position after scooping 36 points while Black Stars emerged fourth with 33 points in the ten-team league.

To justify their status as reigning champions, Nasewa pipped Muungano 3-2 in an exhibition match at Lwanya Primary School grounds.

Moses Sande fired Nasewa ahead with a clinical finish in the 41st minute before Javan Ouma doubled the advantage a minute later. A rejuvenated Muungano reduced the deficit barely seconds after the restart after Frankline Kwena hurled his shot past Nasewa goalkeeper, Emmanuel Ouma from close range.

Kwena were on target a minute later with another sublime finish to make to restore parity. Any hopes they had of securing a point from the match were, however, shattered in the 86th minute when Meshack Erikodi struck the winner for Nasewa.

The winners, Nasewa, received a set of uniform, a trophy, a ball and Sh30,000.

David Oduor bagged the Golden Boot after emerging top scorer while Arthur Okello was feted with the Golden Gloves.

Nasewa team captain, Bramwel Omuke said their victory came through discipline, hard work.
