Africa-Press – Kenya. Bunyore Starlets’ head coach Daniel Arunga reckons his charges are all set to tackle Nakuru Queens in their next Kenya Women’s Premier League title at Mumboha Stadium in Luanda town on Tuesday.
Speaking at Mumboha Stadium during a training session, Arunga said they have intensified preparations ahead of the match to claim their opponents’ scalp.
He urged his squad to ensure they don’t lose any points on home soil as they bargain for a respectable position in the league.
“Make sure no team walks away with a point because that is the only bargaining power we have at home,” Arunga told his girls.
“I know we are facing some technical issues when it comes to finances but if we register impressive results, we shall attract sponsors from both sides,” he added.
Arunga has challenged his striking force led by skipper Melder Susan to capitalise on all opportunities that come their way in their subsequent fixtures.
“Any chance created should be converted into goals and the more goals we get the better,” Arunga said.
Bunyore Starlets will flex muscles with Nakuru Queens on the same day Vihiga Queens face Trans Nzoia Falcons at Mumias complex.
Meanwhile, Ulinzi Starlets captain Diana Shakava has dismissed the notion that their attack is missing the services of striker Neddy Atieno after they struggled to score against Vihiga Queens last week.
Despite troubling Vihiga’s Lilian Awuor in goal, Ulinzi could not hurl the ball into the back of the net after creating numerous chances in the second half.
Lucy Mukhwana, Aoko Laloline, and Juma Everline could not find a reply to Vihiga’s two goals but Shakava who took over the captaincy from Atieno said the trio need time to gel and become ruthless with matches coming thick and fast.
“The struggles were evident but I still believe in our strikers. Most are still upcoming and we expect them to make a difference in the coming matches…it’s just a matter of time. Losing one match doesn’t change our targets for the season.”
She added: “Football has three outcomes. We still have more matches to look forward to because the league is so competitive and we learn from every opponent we meet.”
