Africa-Press – Kenya. A strong field of 144 golfers has been drawn for the ongoing Johnnie Walker Golf Series dubbed ‘Road to Gleneagles’ at Kiambu Golf Club.
The event is part of the qualification round of the tournament’s Eagles Round be played at Muthaiga Golf Club.
The event follows the Nanyuki leg, where home player Moses Muthoki led his team of Peter Rimui, Purity Githui, and Jadiel Muriungi to the overall title after carding a combined 107 points.
The team of John Mathai, Gen Waweru Luka Mwangi, and Francis Mathenge placed second on countback after a combined score of 102.
They beat the team of Kevin Kabugi, Robert Gachai, Richard Kabugi, and Marlin Ndegwa who posted a similar point margin for the third slot
The three joined the list of teams that have already qualified to play in the next round to be played at Muthaiga Golf Club.
This Muthaiga event will be followed by the Grand Finale where a fully paid trip to the iconic Gleneagles Golf Course in Scotland will be at stake.
Johnnie Walker’s marketing manager, Josephine Katambo said; ” This being the 15th edition of the series, this has been nothing but an amazing journey for us.
“The tournament has provided an opportunity to amateur golfers around the country to showcase their talents and has also offered us the chance to interact with our customers.”
She said sports have always been a great platform for them to interact with their consumers and stakeholders.
