Africa-Press – Kenya. Former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu’s graft case in which he was accused of irregular award of a Sh588 million road tender has been adjourned.
He was accused alongside 12 others.
The Office of the Directorate of Public Prosecution said that Waititu had filed for an adjournment and was granted by Milimani Chief Magistrate.
“Milimani Chief Magistrate today allowed for an adjournment by the defense team in a matter involving former Kiambu Governor Ferdinand Waititu and 12 others charged with the irregular award of Sh588 million road tender.”
ODPP said that the prosecution led by Faith Mwila and Linda Mwamburi was ready with two witnesses.
“The prosecution has produced 27 witnesses in the case.”
The case will now be heard on October 14, 2022.
This is not the first time the matter is being adjourned.
In August 2020, Waititu told the court he tested positive for Covid-19, prompting the court to adjourn the matter.
He produced treatment notes from Super Care indicating he has been placed on bed rest for seven days.
Magistrate Thomas Nzyoki in October 2020 said he would not entertain further adjournments.
