Isiolo man sentenced to 100 years in jail over terror links

Africa-Press – Kenya. The High Court in Isiolo has sentenced Osman Lado Gale to 100 years behind bars for the offence of being a member of a terrorist group.

The accused was found guilty on all 12 counts he had been charged with.

On March 28, 2017, Lado was found with a mobile phone at Isiolo Police Station containing different videos.

Police said the footage were articles for use in the commission of a Terrorist Act.

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecution on Wednesday said that the offence is contrary to section 24 of the Prevention of Terrorism Act, 2012.

Lado was convicted by Isiolo Law Court chief magistrate Lucy Kathure on September 14, 2022.

On the first count, he will serve 15 years, 30 years for count two, 15 years for count three to nine, 12 years for count 12 and 25 years for counts 10 and 11.

All the sentences will run concurrently meaning he will only be in jail for 30 years.
