KUJ complains to CJ Koome over judge who jailed Tuko editor

Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenyan Union of Journalists (KUJ) has written a complaint against magistrate Eunice Nyutu who jailed a TUKO editor on Tuesday citing her for misconduct.

In a letter to Chief Justice Martha Koome, KUJ says it is gravely concerned over summons issued to the KBC editor Millicent Awour over contempt of court claims.

Through Lawyer Danstan Omari, KUJ says that they are concerned because TUKO editor Didacus Malowa was summoned by the same magistrate and immediately sentenced.

“The council is afraid that Millicent Awour will face the same wrath tomorrow October 6 2022,” the letter reads.

The Union argues that there has never been an order to media on the said proceedings adding that the article was published by 4 other media houses and no complaints were issued to them.
