Africa-Press – Kenya. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday donned a hoodie branded with his new nickname ‘Riggy G’.
In a picture Gachagua was in a yellow trouser, grey hoodie and a yellow cap.
The DP had visited his aunt Gladys Gathoni at her home in Iganjo village, in Nyeri county
Gachagua embraced the nickname given to him by Ivy Chelimo in a social media post.
“Riggy G is melodious,” he said at a primary school music festival.
He said the nickname had made life easier for people who would experience difficulties pronouncing his mouthful name.
“The young lady who decided that Rigathi Gachagua is a little bit difficult and not melodious, we need to give him the name Riggy G,” Gachagua said.
Gachagua pledged to help Chelimo financially.
“To encourage our young people, I took up the name in strides. I have told my sons to look for that girl to come we have dinner,” he added.
“I want to encourage that young girl, I will see what I can do for her so that I can see, from my salary, if I can boost her a little bit to be able to do something,” he explained.
Chelimo is a lifestyle content creator who recently graduated from the Catholic University of East Africa (CUEA).
