Africa-Press – Kenya. The reigning East Africa Secondary Schools Sports Association volleyball champions Cheptil Boys want the government to come to their rescue as they prepare to represent Kenya at the Africa Schools Championships in Morocco next month.

School principal David Ngetich said it was an honour for the school to be invited to such a high-level show but they lack the financial muscles to travel to Morocco.

“ For us to prepare well, we need some good money and that is why we are appealing to the Ministry of Education to help the boys realize their dream,” said Ng’etich.

He noted: “To win such a high calibre event, we have to prepare well and good preps require money. We need air tickets, allowances for the technical team, coaches, accommodation, documentation, and kit among other things. That is why we need funding to facilitate our needs.”

Cheptil won both the national and East Africa volleyball titles. He also requested the government to allow them to train at the Nyayo National Stadium Indoor gymnasium in readiness for the Africa schools show.

Ng’etich said they hope to replicate their performance at the East Africa show when they travel to Morocco.

“We are requesting the Ministry of Sports to allow them to train in Nyayo Indoor Arena to enable our boys to familiarise themselves with the indoor conditions because the competitions in Morocco will be held indoors,” he said.
