Africa-Press – Kenya. President William Ruto has commended the spouses of KDF officers for their strength and loyalty when their loved ones leave home for duty.

Ruto pointed out that the same support network steps in when officers are injured in the line of duty.

“Their work is silent, away from sight with absolute loyalty and dedication to keep families together thereby sustaining an indispensable support network to our officers.”

The President spoke on Friday during the celebrations to mark KDF Day at the Laikipia Airbase.

He added that their presence as caregivers has been vital in the recovery journey of the officers whether psychologically or physiologically.

“We do not take these outstanding form of selfless national service for granted and on behalf of a grateful nation, I appreciate you and I thank you,” he said.

Ruto urged the officers to carry out their duties on the understanding that they are united in service to uphold, protect and defend the nation and its values.

“Support one another along the way because we are enlisted in one cause. The cause of one nation and one people,” he added.

The event was the first military occasion that Ruto presided over since he became President.

It was held to commemorate the valour and sacrifice of fallen heroes of the Kenya Defence Forces.
