Africa-Press – Kenya. The US Kids Foundation has kicked off regional training for local golf coaches at Nyali Golf Club, Mombasa County.
The program seeks to encourage coaches to use the knowledge gained to introduce more young people to the sport as well as develop some into elite players.
The training conducted by Jim Hardy, the US Kids senior director in charge of golf development, seeks to encourage coaches to use the knowledge gained to introduce more young people to the sport as well as develop some into elite players.
“Last year, we partnered with Junior Golf Foundation (JGF) to involve coaches in our training and offer playing opportunities to boys and girls in Kenya.
“The country has great potential in growing and developing golf. This training will equip local coaches with knowledge and skills to train young people in the sport and develop them into elite players,” Hardy said.
He went on: “We have started with the Coast region, and we will be proceeding to other regions including Nairobi, Western, Mt. Kenya and Rift Valley.”
The program is part of the partnership between Safaricom and Junior Golf Foundation launched in October to help nurture and grow golf talent in the country.
The partnership involves the training of coaches, local golf tours and nationwide golf development.
