Africa-Press – Kenya. Kenya’s James Dalidi closed the year in style as he won the Uhuru Squash Open tournament held at the Colosseum gym and fitness centre in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
Dalidi beat Zambia’s Enos Mwale 3-1 in the final to clinch the TSh1m (Sh52,000) top prize while Mwale grabbed TSh600k (Sh31,000). In the semis, Dalidi overcame homeboy Marwa Busigara while Mwale had beaten Kenya’s Leon Keys.
Kenya was represented by just three players, Dalidi, Keys and Nashon Karanja, in the tournament that attracted 47 representatives from four countries.
“I feel really good about the results and I am glad that I have finished the year on a high. This is great motivation heading to next season,” Dalidi said. The three-day event drew competitors from Kenya, Zambia, Zanzibar, and hosts Tanzania.
