Why I have been missing from public - MP Oscar Sudi

Africa-Press – Kenya. Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has bowed to pressure and explained why he has been missing from the eyes of the public for several weeks.

At a goat auction function in Baringo county, the MP explained his loud absence from the public.

He said he was active on political matters when they were working hard for Ruto to win the presidency and now that he has clinched the seat, he has nothing left to fight for.

Sudi, who uncharacteristically spoke briefly, stated that he had opted to take a sabbatical leave of sorts from politics until February 2023.

“Although I had said I will take a brief retirement until February but some hustlers have been asking why I have gone silent. But what do you want me to do? Because of all the work we did, is this man (Ruto) here, not the president? May God bless you sana,” he said in his brief speech at the annual Kimalel goat auction on Thursday.

Ruto was the chief guest at the function.

Sudi is one of the Rift Valley MPs who enjoyed close ties with President William Ruto.

He would occasionally board Kenya Airforce chopper, a preserve of key state dignitaries, to grace events attended by the president.

Sudi was among a delegation that accompanied Ruto on his maiden visit to Ethiopia, Uganda and Tanzania in his capacity as President for the first time.

But for some weeks now, the image of Sudi who had been perceived as part of President Ruto’s inner circle has been conspicuously missing in many key events attended by the president.

At the same time, he has toned down his social media commentaries that he often made in support or defence of President Ruto.
