Africa-Press – Kenya. Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has announced changes at the Ministry and National Administration. In a public notice on December 31, 2022, the CS recalled all Regional Commissioners and named new ones.
The new ones include; Rhoda Onyancha (Coast), John Otieno (North Eastern), Paul Rotich (Eastern), Fredrick Shisia (Central), Abdi Hassan (RV), Samson Irungu (Western), Flora Mworoa (Nyanza) and Katee Mwanza (Nairobi)
“All region commissioners have been recalled to the ministry headquarters for further deployment,” reads the notice.
CS Kindiki noted that the changes are with immediate effect and are aimed at enhancing service delivery. National Administration is one of the Departments in the Ministry of Interior.
It has a staff complement of 12,575 which includes eight Regional Coordinators, 47 County Commissioners, 289 Deputy County Commissioners, 831 Assistant County Commissioners, 3,256 Chiefs and 8,145 Assistant Chiefs.
He also appointed three new county commissioners, Tom Anjere who will be deployed in Kisii county, Willim Kaimba in Makueni and Felix Watakila in Kajiado.
At the Ministry of Interior headquarters, changes have also been made where Anne Ng’etich, currently Secretary of Administration in the State Department for Lands and Physical Planning is the new Principal Administrative Secretary (PAS).
She will be the first female PAS at the minsitry. Beverly Opwora currently County Commissioner for Makueni County takes over as the Secretary for National Administration. Jacob Namulen who holds the County Commissioner for Wajir County position is the new Secretary for peacebuilding.
Since taking over from his predecessor Fred Matiangi in November, CS Kindiki has kept the ball rolling as he has been at the forefront of solving the rampant crime cases in the nation.
He pledged to make all necessary changes to ensure the country’s security remains a priority and address challenges. Despite the docket being challenging, the CS said he will positively embrace the responsibility and he has had “the best moments of his life” since taking office.
