AfricaPress-Kenya: With fifty Kenyan lives lost to the deadly Coronavirus, the Health Director-General Dr. Patrick Amoth through his weekly conversation with Kenyans on Twitter stated that all the deceased had pre-existing health conditions.

However, Dr. Amoth didn’t miss an opportunity to remind Kenyans that no one is immune to Covid-19.“Regardless of age, we urge everyone to continue with our laid down measures: wash hands, wear a mask, sanitize, keep social and physical distance and stay at home as much as is possible,” tweeted the Health Director-General.

Three pregnant women have also been among those snared in the brutal claws of the virus. Fortunately, none of the women have lost their lives from the virus which has so far taken the life of a child aged six-years.

According to the Ministry of health, men are the most affected with Covid-19 as 62 per cent of those infected representing men and 38 per cent for women. Amoth clarified that the reason for such data might be linked to the fact that “The targeted mass testing has mainly been focused on Male-dominated sectors, for example, truck drivers.

This may point to the numbers of more male cases.”Nevertheless, the number of deaths among men is also still higher than women with men representing 76 per cent and women 34 per cent of the total 50 deaths registered as of May 19.

The online conversation which happens every Wednesday from 10 to 11 in the morning has given Kenyans the opportunity to get answers to many of their questions that couldn’t be answered in the daily press briefing by the Ministry of Health.

Questions ranged from ages of people most affected, what areas are hotspot, to the technical strategies the government used to contain the spread of the virus in places like Siaya which was anticipated to explode following the case of a priest who tested positive after widespread interaction with the residents of the county.

Kenya continues to battle with the coronavirus pandemic which mimics a stubborn storm that keeps growing with the intention of causing major havoc. There are now 963 people infected with the virus and 358 recovered cases.
