Africa-Press – Kenya. Some Wiper leaders from Makueni received an invitation to the State House but they declined, Kalonzo Musyoka has revealed. Speaking on Tuesday during the Azimio Parliamentary Group meeting i Maanzoni, Machakos county, the Wiper leader said Ruto should not invite party members without their leader’s consent.
“I just got the information today that Wiper members from Makueni received an invitation to go to State House and they declined politely,” he said.
“You can send very powerful messages very politely. You cannot go cannibalising political organisations by inviting members without reference to their leadership.”
He said that Wiper members don’t have any plans of meeting the President. Kalonzo urged MPs to seek their leader’s consent before meeting President Ruto.
“Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi was once called to State House Mombasa. He went but did the decent thing. He called his party leader. I think that is the way to go,” Kalonzo said.
Kalonzo’s sentiments come after some ODM and Jubilee MPs were castigated for meeting Ruto at State House. ODM leader Raila Odinga on Thursday said MPs who met the President are traitors and they should resign from the party.
“Members who defected from Azimio need to resign their position and go,” he said.
“The dangerous predominant is that some MPs are approaching the executive for the development of constituencies. Under the constitution, the resources are being allocated by Parliament.”
Some nine ODM lawmakers on Tuesday visited Ruto at the State House. They include Gideon Ochanda (Bondo), Elisha Odhiambo (Gem), Mark Nyamita (Uriri), Caroli Omondi (Suba South), Shakeel Shabir (Kisumu East), Paul Abuor (Rongo) and Kisumu Senator Prof Tom Ojienda.
