Africa-Press – Kenya. Jubilee secretary general Jeremiah Kioni says that once the 14-day ultimatum ends, the party will go in the direction Azimio leader Raila Odinga will tell them.
Speaking on Tuesday, Kioni said they will do whatever it takes to achieve what they want as Azimio la Umoja One Kenya alliance.
“The other thing is we are waiting for the end of the ultimatum. We have only two days to go and we will all go where baba (Raila Odinga) will be. We will fight to ensure all we said is achieved,” he said.
“When the call to join others is made by Raila we will be there as a party, as a unit of PLWDs and other units that are there.”
Kioni spoke during a meeting with party members living with disability.
About two weeks ago, Raila during a prayer Rally in Jeevanjee gave President William Ruto’s government a 14-day ultimatum to fix the high cost of living.
Failure to do this, Raila threatened countrywide mass action.
“We’ve talked about the rising cost of basic commodities like unga, electricity, fuel, sugar and milk among others for far too long. We have complained about rising taxes and talked about children dropping out of school for lack of fees,” Raila said.
“Withdrawal of subsidies to food and education in the middle of drought and famine was reckless and heartless. Consequently, the subsidies must be restored, and the cost of basic commodities and taxes must come down in the next 14 days,” Raila said.
The former Prime added that they were also seeking electoral justice.
