Africa-Press – Kenya. Kabianga University has been closed indefinitely.
This follows students’ unrest over the administration’s zero-fee balance policy before being allowed to sit for exams.
A letter dated April 4, seen by the Star required that students vacate the university premises by 5 pm, Tuesday.
“During a special Senate meeting held today, April 4, 2023, to deliberate on the prevailing circumstances involving students’ unrests, the University Senate agreed to close the University indefinitely for students in Main Campus,” the letter reads in part.
Police were forced to lob teargas canisters to disperse the students who had barricaded the roads and lit tires.
