Africa-Press – Kenya. The Africa Volleyball Federation president Bouchra Hajij has described the late Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) president Waithaka Kioni as a unifying force that guided the CAVB executive in the best manner.
Kioni will be laid to rest today at his Kiamwangi home, with a host of African leaders expected to pay their last respect to the departed soul. Upon his death, Kioni served as the CAVB treasurer.
“To me, Mr. Kioni was one of the people who welcomed me and took me through the ropes when I joined the CAVB Executive Committee in 2015,” Bouchra said.
She added: “He had already been serving in the Executive and Board of the CAVB and we immediately created a sound working relationship, which, due to mutual respect and working rapport, evolved into a great friendship. The late was a unifying force in the executive and many benefited from his vast experience, wisdom and intellect.” She said Kioni’s death is a huge blow not only to Kenyan volleyball but Africa as a whole.
