Azimio to resume protests again on Thursday

Africa-Press – Kenya. Azimio la Umoja coalition has announced that it will resume its protests against President William Ruto on Thursday. This after their protests in Nairobi were largely thwarted by heavy deployment of anti-riot police officers on Tuesday.

The officers blocked the Azimio convoy, which included mainly MPs, from accessing the Nairobi Central Business District. Addressing the press at the Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Foundation, Upperhill, Nairobi, Azimio leaders said they will take a break on Wednesday.

Narc Kenya leader Martha Karua, the Azimio deputy captain said the team will retreat to re-strategise ahead of Thursday. “We are taking a break to recharge, re-strategise and re-energise.. we shall resume our protests on Thursday,” Karua said.

The Azimio leaders led by Raila Odinga, Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Karua did not, however, join the procession on Tuesday. The procession snaked through Kawangware-James Gichuru-Waiyaki Way before exiting towards Muthaiga area and retreating.
