Africa-Press – Kenya. Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has urged the Maasai community to withdraw their support for Azimio leader Raila Odinga. Gachagua told the community that they have over the years rallied behind Raila and it was now time they ditch him because he is anti-development.
“During the August 2022 general election, you gave us half of your votes. Some of you voted for him, he is now leading violence. I urge you to abandon him, he is destructive,” Gachagua said.
The DP was speaking in Narok West when he distributed over 6,000 title deeds to residents of Naikarra ward. Raila, he said, likes anarchy and violence, which cannot allow for development.
Gachagua said the opposition, which has resumed violent protests despite President William Ruto inviting them for talks under the bipartisan approach, is pursuing selfish interests disguised in public agenda.
“When you elected us, we promised to deliver. Seven months into office, we delivered 6,000 title deeds. President William Ruto also promised to revive the agriculture sector, he has delivered subsidised fertiliser for farmers across the country,” he said.
“I am glad to know it was received here at Sh3,500 instead of Sh7,000. With the ongoing rains, you will harvest more. Our competitor has done nothing. Join President Ruto to benefit more.” The Deputy President said the ODM leader has been defeated five times and it is time for him to retire.
“He promised to lead peaceful demonstrations. But what we have seen in Nairobi is violence. He has rejected the Parliamentary bipartisan approach. He wants to join the government by force, causing bloodshed and deaths. It is not possible,” he said. While in Narok South, the Deputy President said the government is keen on protecting the water towers across the country, including the Mau forest.
