Africa-Press – Kenya. Nominated MP John Mbadi has said he didn’t know he would be a legislator in the 13th August House. In an interview with Citizen TV, Mbadi said if things would have gone well for his party leader Raila Odinga, he would be a Cabinet Secretary in his government.
“I didn’t know that I would be in the 13th Parliament, but I am thankful to be a Member of Parliament, it’s God who planned for me to be an MP,” he said.
It is keen to note that when Raila was proposing names for his Cabinet members during the presidential campaigns in 2022, Mbadi’s name was, however, not mentioned.
He also said there are signs the bill will pass, as most MPs have assured the President of their vote. “I don’t think Kenyans can depend on Parliament to defend them, you can already see the signs,” he said.
Mbadi added that the National Assembly Majority Whip Sylvanus Osoro already assured President William Ruto that the Finance Bill 2023 will pass without changing anything in it.
“They have congregated and said their duty is to make sure that government programmes succeed, we have been engaging and I see the way some of our colleague reason, it is pathetic,” he said.
